Radio Times

A special edition of the Radio Times commemorating 50 years of BBC television news featured a fold-out cover with images of the news teams. Photographer Andy Earl took the photographs for the special issue. The issue also contained a special pull-out supplement, Life on Mars.

Ceefax service

For 38 years, the BBC news Ceefax service provided readers with information on a range of topics. However, the service ceased in 2012 due to the UK’s digital switchover. Its content was reduced and it was split into two sections – At Speed and In Depth. In addition to the news, it featured television listings for BBC One and BBC Two, and subtitled stories.

Newsnight on BBC news is a prime time TV programme, which is broadcast in the UK. This program explains the major happenings of the day. Moreover, it also covers the international news. Its main objective is to inform the viewer about what is going on around the world.

BBC World Service’s Newsday is a weekly news programme that focuses on international news. Its content ranges from business to sports stories, and it mixes serious reporting with a modern style. It features interviews and commentary on the big stories of the day. The news is presented by a range of presenters with diverse backgrounds.

Sky News

Sky News is a British television news channel. Its predecessor, the BBC’s Nine O’Clock News, went through a similar makeover in the late 1970s.
